Client Access Rules: Summary of March 27 Presentation

On March 27, CalMHSA presented an analysis of HIPAA client access rules, role-based access control in SmartCare, and next steps that counties should take. A recap of that presentation – including an overview of the HIPAA Security Rule and practical approaches for counties in the EHR – is now available. Questions about the rule or next steps can be directed to charla.rowe@calmhsa.org.

Rate Record for Prescriber Progress Updated

A script loaded into county QA environments on April 3 will update the 2023-24 fiscal year procedure rate records associated with billing code 99233, procedure code Prescriber Progress E/M (IP/PHF/CSU/Res).

The maximum range has been revised to 1440 minutes. Previously, the rate records reflected a maximum range of 40 minutes, which could result in a service error of “Unable to find a matching rate.” This change will automatically be uploaded into production environments on April 10.

Upcoming CalMHSA Connex Maintenance

All Connex users were sent an email notification about maintenance to the Connex site that will take place on Sunday, April 6 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (PT). Please plan accordingly for this maintenance window and contact Connex@calmhsa.org with any questions.
