IdenTrust Certificate Expiring Notification

All IdenTrust certificates expire after 2 years and need to be renewed. The IdenTrust system automatically sends renewal notifications by email at 90, 60, 30, 14, 7, and 1-day intervals before your certificate expires.

The email message will include something like what is below.

When you receive this email, contact your county and let them know.  The county will need to contact CalMHSA to request a renewal voucher.  This voucher will allow you to start the process of renewing your certificate without paying for a voucher yourself.  This process of renewing the certificate also requires you to reauthenticate your mobile device with IdenTrust and SmartCare.  Once you start the process you need to finish it.

Important Notes:

  1. When you renew your certificate, it invalidates the old or current one you have been using. You will need to reauthenticate your mobile device with IdenTrust and SmartCare after you have renewed your certificate.  If you don’t, you won’t be able to approve controlled substances.
  2. You may want to start the renewal process with the renewal voucher when you are completely ready. Meaning, when you don’t have to prescribe controlled substances immediately and you have time to work with IdenTrust tech support and/or the county sys admin or CalMHSA to assist. 
  3. IdenTrust strongly recommends you do this procedure from the computer you installed the original certificate, or they recommend you have a backup copy of it ready during the renewal process. If you don’t have it, you will want to contact their tech support, and they will assist you.

Access the Certificate Management Center (CMC):

You can access the CMC using your active certificate or your account number and password.

Renew Your Certificate:

  1. Log in to the CMC.
  2. Locate the label “For this Certificate, Would You Like to:”.
  3. Select “Renew Your Certificate” from the drop-down menu.
  4. Click “Continue” and follow the on-screen instructions.
