How to Reset your CalMHSA Rx EPCS Passphrase

Your passphrase is the “password” you use when prescribing controlled substances in CalMHSA Rx.  If you keep getting a message that your passphrase is wrong when entering it or if you have forgotten it, you will need to change it.  CalMHSA or your county EHR administrator will not be able to change it.  Follow the instructions below to change your passphrase.

Go to https://ui.epcsdrfirst.com/pob/login

  1. Select Forgot Passphrase
  1. Enter your NPI number.
  2. Enter your entire Credential ID or Serial Number (S/N), includng the letters without spaces or dashes.
  3. Select Next Step.

NOTE: Below are examples of what your Credential ID (soft token) or Serial Number (S/N for hard token) will be. If you are using a soft token, do not forget to include the SYMC in front of the digits.

  1. Select your token from the dropdown.
  2. Enter the email address associated with your account (EPCS registration email).
  3. Enter the One Time Password (OTP) from your token.
  4. Select Continue.

You will receive an email to reset your password. The subject of the email is Prescriber reset passphrase notification. Click the Reset Passphrase Link provided in that email.

You will be redirected to the Reset Passphrase page on EPCS Gold.

You will be prompted again to enter your NPI number and Credential ID or Serial Number (S/N) and then select continue.

For reference:

  1. Select Token from dropdown menu and select your token brand.
  2. Enter your OTP from your active token.
  3. Select continue.

You will be prompted to answer the Security Question that you initially set up during the EPCS registration process. Enter the Security Answer, then click Continue.

NOTE: Security Answers are case sensitive.

If you don’t remember the Security Answer to your security question, please submit a ticket/request. We will send you a new EPCS registration link, where you will need to complete the registration again and create a new passphrase.
