Factsheet for CalMHSA Rx Users

  1. General Terminology in CalMHSA Rx
    1. ‘Client’ in SmartCare is same as ‘Patient’ in CalMHSA Rx
    2. ‘County’ is same as ‘Practice’
    3. ‘Location’ is same as ‘Program’, and provider must choose location, as appropriate to Provider Locations or Programs

 

  1. CalMHSA Rx Initial Checks
    1. Top right corner, you can see your name (confirm that you are logged into correct account).
    2. Below your name, you can see Practice (=County) name and name of locations (=programs) associated with the selected Practice (Confirm that you are logged into the correct practice and location/program).
    3. Make sure to complete Information such as Client Demographics, Height, Weight, and Problems/Diagnoses Codes in SmartCare.
    4. Client details including Pregnancy, Breastfeeding can be completed in CalMHSA Rx.
    5. You must prescribe outpatient/discharge medications for clients in CalMHSA Rx.
    6. Note: Medications and allergies for clients in inpatient/CSU/residential units should be entered in SmartCare (Client Orders) in order to use the Medication Administration Record and avoid drug interactions.

 

  1. Left Top Hamburger Menu– provides useful menu options to navigate to Patient Info (Prescribe, Medications, Allergies, Diagnoses), Prescription Summary, Pharmacy messages, Reports, Settings, Utilities, Support Center.

 

  1. Patient Advisor – provides 4 options in the tab menu on main screen i.e. Patient Scorecard, Patient Support, Clinical Decision Support & Prior Authorizations.

 

  1. Prescription Summary- seen on top of the screen that when clicked, provides prescription summary for the client.

 

  1. Patient Scorecard– provides Patient adherence to prescribed medications using their expected and actual refill dates. Nonadherence is flagged red. The data covers up to 3 years of adherence.

 

  1. Patient Support– Pull up information regarding diagnosis, medications, lab and search
    1. Diagnosis – provides details with name and code value (ICD10). You can search for particular diagnosis codes and print out diagnosis information along with the third party source (e.g. NIH/Government-associated websites).
    2. Medications – You can view list of medications with their codes, able to provide list of medications and their details/FAQs for patient education as a printable copy.
    3. Labs – You can view description, type and values of codes.
    4. Search – helps in code search with value
  1. Clinical Decision Support – Messages regarding medications being prescribed, including safety information as sticky notes (that stay for 15 seconds and can be reviewed by providers).
  1. Prior Authorizations – Queuing up medications with Prior Authorizations, needed, submitted to insurance plan, decision received and cancellations.
