Upcoming President’s Day Holiday

CalMHSA and the Help Desk will be closed for the President’s Day Holiday on Monday, Feb. 16.

ASCMI Form Now Available in SmartCare

The new Authorization to Share Confidential Member Information (ASCMI) form is now available in SmartCare for immediate use. Counties should begin using the ASCMI form to document a client’s consent decision regarding the sharing of protected health information.

Please note that the current Coordinated Care Consent (CCC) form will remain available in SmartCare through March 31 to allow for an orderly transition. After March 31, the CCC form will be deactivated in SmartCare, and organizations should fully transition to the ASCMI form for all applicable use cases. Additional ASCMI guidance and training, including recordings of two webinars we recently offered, are available on the website. If you have questions, please reach out to [email protected].

New: CalMHSA 708 AR Adjustment Report

A new 708 AR adjustment report displays all adjustments entered within a specified time frame. It can be filtered by a date range and adjustment codes. Please note: This report is not CDAG’d.

CalMHSA 804 Program Charge Errors Report

The 804 program charge errors report has been updated to include new filtering options, including a date range, program, and service area selections. In addition, any charges marked as “Do Not Bill” will no longer appear on this report.

Upcoming Changes to Evidence-Based Practice / Service Strategy Reporting

In response to increasing need for service-level reporting of evidence-based practice/service strategy (EBP/SS) information, CalMHSA has asked Streamline to modify and improve how EBP/SS information is reported to CSI to allow us to extend this question’s usage beyond CSI.

Although only CSI Data Dictionary values are currently supported in this field, the update will allow for the inclusion of other, non-CSI values with backend mapping to control what is reported to CSI. We expect this update to be complete in April or May, at which time additional EBP/SS values (including SUD) are expected to be supported.

For existing evidence-based practice tracking options, please continue to reference the Knowledge Base article.

New Non-Billable Procedure Codes

New procedure codes have been created to support CSI state reporting additional Mode 05 service function codes, inpatient admin days on the Inpatient Module, and the upcoming DHCS Individual Service Level reporting. For more information, please see the updated Procedure Codes and License spreadsheet on the CalMHSA website.

The new codes, which will also be part of the ISL code set, are:

  • Procedure code 440: Inpatient Admin Day – Non-Billable ; CSI Mode 05 SF = N/A
  • Procedure code 441: Skilled Nursing Facility STP Patch; CSI Mode 05 SF = 30-34
  • Procedure code 442: Skilled Nursing Facility Patch; CSI Mode 05 SF = 36-39
  • Procedure code 443: Mental Health Rehab Center Patch ; CSI Mode 05 SF = 90-94
  • Procedure code 444: IMD Basic (no Patch); CSI Mode 05 SF = 35

Client Statement Reasons Added to SmartCare

Two new client statements have been added: 1) bad address and 2) minor consent.

New Degree Added Per BHIN 25-011

A new degree called Certified Peer Support Specialist – Forensic has been added to support BH Connect and comply with Behavioral Health Information Notice 25-011. Procedure rates will be updated with future deployments. Procedure codes updated for billing purposes include Behavioral Health Prevention Education Group and Self-Help/Peer Service.
