Client Summary Widget Replaced, No Service Information Included

The Client Summary Widget that counties have been using was originally intended only as a Patient Portal widget and is not behind CDAG protections. Despite the lack of CDAG protections, the widget has remained because of its usefulness to counties.

CalMHSA has now developed a replacement, the Client Summary Info Widget, that does not include any service information. We are requesting that counties notify their staff about this new widget so they can add it to their Client Dashboard screen.

CalMHSA will remove permissions to the original Client Summary Widget from all staff user roles on Jan. 10, 2025. Patient Portal user roles will retain permissions, as this is the original intent of this widget. The new widget will be in QA systems Dec. 19 and will be pushed to production systems this weekend. As part of the deployment, CalMHSA has included a deployment of permissions to this widget to most base user roles (excluding MCO and Patient Portal user roles).

DHCS System Change Notice for Certain CPT Codes

During the Billing Office Hours on Dec. 12, CalMHSA discussed a change notice issued by Short Doyle for CPTs 99441–99443. Beginning Jan. 1, 2025, these CPT codes will no longer be accepted. DHCS recommends the following CPT codes as replacements:

SMHS Delivery System
H2017: This code currently exists in SmartCare as procedure code Psychosocial Rehab – Individual and Psychosocial Rehab – Group.

DMC –ODS / DMC SPA Delivery System
H0001: This code currently exists as procedure code SUD Screening. CalMHSA advises counties to take the following steps:

  • Discontinue using Prescriber Telephone E/M (OP) starting Jan. 1 and use one of the procedures mentioned above during Service Entry as a replacement. This will ensure the proper rate is selected for clinicians.
Add an end date of Dec. 31, 2024, to procedure Prescriber Telephone E/M (OP) in Programs (Administration) for all programs associated with this procedure.
  • Add the replacement procedures to the programs if they are not already listed. A spreadsheet was sent to each county’s fiscal leads earlier this week listing the programs where the procedure Prescriber Telephone E/M (OP) is active. CalMHSA will add an end date of Dec. 31, 2024, to the procedure rate records associated with Prescriber Telephone E/M (OP). If this procedure is used for dates of services after Jan. 1, 2025, a service error of “Unable to find a matching rate” will be associated with these services.

Dec. 26 Billing Office Hours Canceled, No Bulletin Next Week

In observance of the holiday season, the Billing Office Hours scheduled for Dec. 26 have been canceled, and the EHR Bulletin will not be published next week. Both will resume regular schedules beginning Jan. 2.

CalMHSA 113 Inpatient/CSU Client Face Sheet Available in Production

The CalMHSA 113 Inpatient/CSU Client Face Sheet report compiles client-specific information that can assist in understanding a client’s medical history. The report is geared toward users in inpatient or CSU settings, and residential programs may also find this face sheet helpful. Please note that a client must be selected in order to run this report.
