- Create a CARE Act program.
- All services and documents related to CARE Act clients will be associated with this program.
- Add all CARE Act procedure codes to this program. CalMHSA does NOT recommend including standard non-billable procedure codes, such as âattempted contactâ, as this time is generally captured via the CARE Act procedure codes themselves.
- Add the CARE Act program to all appropriate CDAGs.
- Determine who should be allowed to view that a client is enrolled in a CARE Act program and add the CARE Act program to the appropriate CDAGs.
- The CARE Act program should be included in the Administrative CDAG that includes all programs.
- Even though documents associated with this program may appear on list pages, such as Documents (Client), this does not mean that people will be able to open and view these documents. They will only see that these documents exist. The same will be said for appointments. If you want your mental health programs to be able to see when a client has a CARE Act appointment, even if they are denied access to the corresponding progress note for that appointment, youâd want to include the CARE Act program in that CDAG.
- Setup CARE Act staff.
- Add the CARE Act program to all staff users who will be working in the CARE Act program. This will allow them to create documents associated with this program.
- Add the CARE Act Add-On user role to all staff users who will be working in the CARE Act program. This will allow them to view and access CARE Act related documents. Other than administrative user roles (County Affiliate Sys Admin, Medical Records/Quality Assurance, Billing), no other user role will have access to view or create these documents. This is done to keep these court documents confidential.
- CARE Act staff should also have an appropriate license in order to create services for the client. All license/degree types are permitted to provide CARE Act services. At least one license type is required. The following âdegreesâ do not count: NPI, DEA, NA DEA, Taxonomy, Admin Use Only â Bed Days, State License.
- Add any CPT/HCPC codes to the cross walk (see CARE Act CPT/HCPCS Code Crosswalk for more details)
- This has not yet been deployed by Streamline, but theyâre working on it.

CARE Act Reporting Document
Right now, this is called âCare Actâ. I will be changing the name in CalMHSA Prod from âCare Actâ to âCARE Act Reporting Documentâ. Permissions in QA will likely be found under the name âCare Actâ.
