- Select the medication and click on “Dispense as Written.” We have confirmed with pharmacists that this is acceptable and equivalent to “Substitution is not permitted.” It is common practice is that generic medications are ordered and dispensed.
- To minimize the potential for error, we encourage prescribers, when indicating that they want to have the Brand medication dispensed, that they not only check the box but also communicate to the pharmacy to dispense the Brand. You can do this by clicking on “include on prescription which will switch “Comments”–> “Note to Pharmacy” and write a note to the pharmacist.
