How to Discontinue Safety Check Orders

If there was a preceding safety or observation check of any kind, it will be important to discontinue because the EHR system can only demonstrate one safety check at a time on the whiteboard. Therefore, create a safety check for the most restrictive scenario. If there is data that needs to be captured in a secondary type of check, then that entry can be inputted into associated flowsheet rather than from the whiteboard. 

  1. With an active client selected, click the Search icon. 
  2. Type ‘Orders’ into the search bar. 
  3. Click to select Client Orders (Client). The Client Orders list page screen will open. 
  1. The Client Orders list page opens. Click on the New icon. 
  1. Click the Safety Check order that you will discontinue.
  2. Click OK.
  1.  Click the radio button to select the order, in the Order List section. 
  2. Click the Discontinuation check box.
    1. This will automatically update the End Date and Time.
  3. Click Modify.
  4. Click Sign.
